As so often happens, my life experiences have all come together in a sort of stew to make my role with The Crewel Work Company a perfect fit.  My mother was British, so Phillipa and I joke that I am bilingual:  I speak English and American. My fluency in both languages has often been helpful.  I was an administrator for over  20 years, so I very am organized and have lots of experience editing.  My stepfather collected art and was very supportive of my love for art, design, and stitching.  My grandmother was an artist and encouraged my stitching from very early on.  My time as a Montessori teacher has informed my approach to teaching.  Finally, my sewing group (The Store-Bought Cookie Club) which I have led for 35 years has made me understand the importance of finding a good textile artist to teach your desired craft.  Quilting, smocking, knitting, dressmaking, and embroidery: I have taught them all.
